Since January 2008, we've been on an unending quest to ensure that our beer selection is the best in the world. We’re listed as one of the Top 50 bars in the US by Draft Magazine. But that’s just the start: Beer Advocate Magazine has ranked us as the #3 Beer Bar in the world, CraftBeer.com has rated us the #2 beer bar in the U.S., and in 2012 and 2013 RateBeer.com ranked HopCat - Grand Rapids as the #1 Brewpub in the United States. We’re humbled by the response that craft beer lovers all over the world have shown to our philosophy, and are truly grateful for the simple fact that we are lucky enough to be located in the Midwest, where craft beer is way of life.
At our East Lansing location, we’ve expanded on that philosophy and pushed the limits of beer bars: We have 100 draft beers — all craft, no crap. The readers of Mlive and Lansing City Pulse responded by awarding HopCat - East Lansing Top of the Town awards for "Best New Restaurant," "Best Fries" and "Best Place for Craft Beer." Our 5-Pepper Beef Chili even won the 2015 East Lansing Chili Cook-off and Board of Water and Light Chili Cook-off.
As an East Lansing favorite, throughout the 80's and 90's the Peanut Barrel established a reputation as the place for great burgers, sandwiches, fries and brew. the patio may be the most popular in East Lansing and inspired the Barrel's famous Long Island Iced Tea. On football saturdays, you can sit on the Peanut Barrel patio and hear the crowd at the stadium. Grab some friends, and head down to the classic Peanut Barrel for good food, great drinks, and a hometown bar atmosphere!
In the beginning, there was Duke’s Shell, a happy little business on the corner of Harrison and Michigan… BUT inside loomed a spirit too strong to be caged by a mere gas station. So, in October of 1981 the Roadhouse was born. The evolution of the original building (including the use of service bay doors as windows) into what is now one of Michigan’s premier “fun stops” has taken years. Now with our open patio, greenhouses, and friendly “Roadie” regulars, we will make your time spent with us more fun than allowed. Fresh food, cocktails, great service, tremendous music, and the Roadie Spartan Spirit rule here!!
A great place to sit back, relax, and watch any game thats happening live! The Fieldhouse never fails when it comes to craft beers, speciality drinks, and great bar food! Though new to the East Lansing area, it is a fantastic place to grab a few brews and get as close as possible to one of the many big screen tv's that Fieldhouse has to offer!
